What is 50 50 E liquid?
December 03, 2018Vape juice is made up of four ingredients:
- Vegetable Glycerin (VG)
- Propylene Glycol (PG)
- Flavoring
- Nicotine (optional)
When a vape juice is labeled as 50/50, it refers to the VG PG ratio, meaning it is half vegetable glycerin and half propylene glycol.
Most vape juice made today is 70% VG and 30% PG. That seems to be the sweet spot for ratios that will work well in most tanks. There are many others at around 80% VG as well. Once you get higher than 80% VG, the e-liquid tends to get more syrupy (thick), which means it doesn't feed as well in tank atomizers.
There are some main differences between VG and PG:
- VG is much thicker and sweeter. It tends to create larger clouds of vapor.
- PG is thinner but seems to carry flavor and throat hit better than VG.
So, if you want huge clouds, you can go for higher VG (some vape juices are considered max VG -- nearly 100% VG), and drip it on your rebuildable atomizer. Max VG vape juice certainly will not feed very well in most vape tanks, and its thicker consistency tends to gunk up coils more quickly.
Many tank users prefer the 50/50 vape juice because of the way it feeds into their tanks. We don't recommend 50/50 or anything lower than 70% VG for dripping as the thinner vape juice will tend to flow out of your air holes. But, for tanks like the SMOK TFV12 Prince, 50/50 works great.
We usually put the VG/PG ratio in our product descriptions, so check there to see if it will meet your device needs. A great line with many 50/50 vape juice is Jimmy the Juice Man.
